  • Service Driver

    Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

    Pay: £33,989.00 per year

    For this position, apart from driving a 3.5ton commercial vehicle, no experience is necessary as full training will be provided.

    Your daily duties will include:

    Driving a 3500kg Transit / Sprinter type service vehicle to and from customers sites.
    Daily cleaning and emptying of plastic portable toilets and welfare facilities on customer sites.
    Loading, delivering, collecting and unloading of plastic portable toilets.
    Assisting in the daily cleaning and maintenance of depot toilet stock to ensure availability.
    Daily checking of your service vehicle and equipment to ensure road safety and company compliance.

    Willing to tow a trailer as and when required, trailer training will be provided if this is required.

    About you:

    Must be able to work on your own throughout the day but also as part of a team of service drivers at the depot.
    Must have good communication skills as you will be the face of the company when delivering, cleaning, emptying and collecting toilets from customers.
    Must have a Full UK Driving licence with no more than 6 points.
    Must be reliable day to day and willing to work in all weathers throughout the year due to the nature of company business.

    Must have your own transport to and from work due to depot location in Great Baddow CM2 7TA.

  • Van driver

    Annual Salary: £31,453

    You’ll start with a thorough induction – then you’ll be providing our customers a friendly totally dedicated delivery service of food orders taking care to resolve any issues along the way. It’s a vital role, and it can be hard work, but a Brakes Van Driver makes it look easy!

    You’ll need to pay attention for accurately picking on vehicle and delivery of customer orders and maintaining product temperatures in a multi-temperature controlled vehicle. You’ll need awareness of Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Compliance to ensure your vehicle checks are completed to a high standard to ensure roadworthiness. The role includes manual handling of our food produce to the customers premises so you will need to comply with Health and Safety (SSOW), hygiene and other related legislation.

    You’ll require a full drivers licence and extensive road knowledge of our local area. As our 3.5t Van Driver you’ll use your strong communication and teamwork skills, knowledge and initiative to solve basic problems and make routine decisions.     ROLE TYPE: Full Time

    SALARY: £28,020 per annum during training (approx. 12 months) rising to £48,417 in Year 1, £53,424 in Year 2 and £64,772 in Year 3.

    What you’ll be doing

    • Train Operation: Responsible for the professional operation of trains, ensuring the train adheres to schedule whilst maintaining safe operations.
    • Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to safety protocols, including signalling systems, speed limits, and track conditions, to ensure the safety of passengers, crew, and the public.
    • Emergency Response: In the event of an emergency or unexpected situation, respond quickly and appropriately, following established procedures and protocols.

    • Record-keeping: Ensure accurate documentation of activities, including departure and arrival times, any incidents or delays, and other relevant information.
    • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with control centres, signal operators, and other relevant personnel to ensure smooth train operations.
    • Adaptability: Adapt to changes in routes, weather conditions, or unexpected circumstances while maintaining operational efficiency.
    • Preparation for Duty: Due to the demanding nature of the role of a train driver, you will be expected to manage your lifestyle appropriately, ensuring adequate rest before shifts. This will at times impact your personal life and require you to make social sacrifices. We also enforce a zero-tolerance policy regarding recreational drugs and alcohol.

    About you

    The role of a Train Driver is safety critical and is subject to Rail Safety Standards Board (RSSB) regulations. You MUST meet the following criteria for this position, or your application will be automatically rejected:

    • Currently live within a 45-minute car journey from the station you work from.
    • Be at least 20 years of age at the time of application.
    • Pass the TDLCR Train Driver medical assessment, including drugs and alcohol screening.
    • Not have defective colour vision.
    • Obtain a pass to an enhanced level on the Train Driver Psychometric Assessments, which will be taken as part of the recruitment process. If you pass the test, it is valid for 5 years. Please note you have only three attempts to complete the psychometrics – if you fail on your third attempt you are unable to re-take them and cannot qualify for a train driver position.
    • Commit to working early, late and weekend shifts – without relying on public transport (for example: 03:00 – 10:30, 15:30 – 12:30, 21:00 – 06:00).
