As one of our Home Delivery Drivers, you’ll be the special ingredient that delivers everything our online customers shopped at Sainsbury’s for.

    Eligibility:

    • You must be over 18 and have held a full UK/EU driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than 6 points on it
    • You will complete an online driving risk assessment as part of your interview and, if you’re successful, there’ll be a driving assessment when you join us
    • You must have Right to Work eligibility in the UK

    What you’ll be doing:

    • Driving a 3.5 tonne van to deliver groceries to our customers doorsteps, on-time and in a great condition
    • Completing checks to ensure the van is organised, clean and roadworthy, and that delivery cases are secure before getting out onto the road to drive safely in a variety of locations and conditions
    • Serve our customers brilliantly, supporting with any questions and substitutions, and keeping them aware of any delays
    • Build great knowledge about our products, services and promotions to help provide recommendations
    • When not out making deliveries, you will be helping across the store as needed

    What You’ll Be Doing

    • Delivering mattresses to residential and business addresses across the UK

    Salary: £13.35 – £14.56

    You will be responsible for


    Delivering your part of our customer shopping trip by:

    • I ensure the van and trays I use are clean and kept tidy/organised.
    • Leaving the back yard clean, tidy and clear of rubbish, and picking up litter as I see it.
    • Ensuring trays are washed as part of the tray wash process.Â
    • Loading the van as required, checking the van for roadworthiness.
    • Talking to the customer about any changes to their order, including short code item and substitutions, offering a refund for anything they are unhappy with.
    • Taking care of products/deliveries as if they were my own.
    • Explaining to the customer that they will not be charged any more for their substitutions.
    • Delivering during the customers time slot.
    • Calling the customer before arriving at their property if early.
    • Calling the store/centre if running 30 or more minutes late.

    You will need

    • Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit, working together to make sure our store is the best it can be for customers.

    Our Home Delivery Drivers are ambassadors for our business. In this role you’ll be delivering shopping to customers doors, providing exceptional levels of customer service and connecting directly with our customers as the face of Iceland.

  • Trainee Driver

    Compensation: £43,040

    Role Type: Full time / Permanent


    The role

    As a Trainee Driver, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Trainee Driver will operate and maintain On Track Machines under supervision, progressing through training to achieve full certification and support safe, efficient rail maintenance operations.

    Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

    • Drive and/or Operate On Track Machines (OTMs) for which certification of competence has been issued on achieving the required standards.
    • Conduct servicing, cleaning, fuelling and minor repairs of On Track Machines (OTMs) as directed and required.
    • Arrange to complete and return all associated paperwork. This includes Phires Forms, signing of logbooks and other documentation as required.
    • Comply with all applicable standards, procedures, best practices and observe all local conditions where required.
    • Undergo all training and assessments as required.

    This role is full time and based onsite at Rutherglen.

    Essential experience of the Trainee Driver:

    • Have good knowledge of OTM operation.
    • Able to develop or have good knowledge of track mechanised maintenance.

    Qualifications for the Trainee Driver:

    • Able to meet the requirements of Psychometric assessment.
    • Able to meet the required train driver’s medical standards.

    Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £13.35 an hour; this increases to £14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.

    It’s our policy to offer new colleagues joining us a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but if you’d like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12) we have opportunities for this too and would still love to hear from you.

    The table shows the periods of time in the week we’d like you to be available to work – the availability windows. We will schedule your contracted hours within these times, and you’ll have 3 weeks’ notice of exactly when your shifts will be.
