    Main duties of the job

    The post holder will form part of the team within the Transport. Department driving competently and safely all the vehicles within the fleet as required. Responsible for the daily safety checks on the vehicles and that the vehicle is in a clean & tidy condition. Accountable to the Transport Deputy Manager and Transport Manager for the duties allocated according to set schedules and timetables as well as some ad-hoc duties. To complete the required documentation concerned with the vehicles allocated Required to support and work across sites in exceptional circumstances. To be able to use Transport delivery hardware ensuring chain of custody for every delivery/collection. To present a professional, customer focused attitude at all times. Driver is to liaise with staff at various locations, ensuring goo practice and continuity of service. To operate in a safe and proper manner and be aware of responsibilities concerning the Road Traffic Acts and the Health & Safety Act. To be able to work and become familiar with the Transport Department procedures, Schedules and Standing Instructions and with the routine operating instructions concerning each schedule run or shift. To be fully flexible and change rostered duty to ensure service is delivered as required. To ensure that “duty of care” is followed when collecting and transporting of Clinical waste and general waste. To wear uniform and PPE which will be provided.

  • Asda Larne Driver

    Pay: £43k

    A unique opportunity has arisen for experienced Class 1 HGV Driver to join our successful team and support our business delivering goods throughout Northern Ireland, ASDA stores.

    We are looking for drivers to cover the dayshift rota.

    What you need:

    • Full HGV Class C&E (Class 1) Licence
    • A minimum of 12 months LGV driving and delivery experience, with no more than 3 penalty points
    • Possession of a Digital Tachograph card
    • In possession of full DCPC (35 hours)
    • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

    The Role:

    • Deliveries to ASDA stores depots as Ambassadors of Wincanton Dedicated Grocery.
    • Organisation and accurate completion of appropriate paperwork for each delivery consignment.
    • Unloading manually required.
    • Prompt and regular communication with Larne depot if any problems arise during shift.
    • Safe and efficient handling of vehicle in all respects, including the optimization of fuel usage, cleanliness of cab etc.
    • Pre-shift checks of vehicle and reporting of maintenance issues.
    • Compliance with all legislation and procedures relating to LGV driving.
    • Conducting self in a safe manner and reporting any issues which risk H&S of self/others.
    • Undertake any training required by operation, the Company provide your yearly CPC training.
    • To undertake such duties as may be reasonably required for the effective operation of the function i.e. shunting duties.

    What will you be doing as a Van Driver?

    • Driving a 3.5 Tonne Van in a safe manner, complying with all road traffic, and vehicle legislation
    • Performing vehicle checks at the beginning and end of each journey and reporting all defects
    • Ensuring the vehicle and stock are properly always secured

    Relevant skills and experience as a Van Driver:

    • This is a physically demanding role including lifting and shifting – essential that you are physically able to lift items
    • Valid in-date driving license
    • No more than 6 points on driving license
    • Previous experience in a multi drop role would be advantageous but not essential
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential
    • DBS security check will be completed on the successful candidate

  • Vehicle Driver

    Pay: £20.14

    Mactech require a Driver for long term work at Hinkley Point C Nuclear New Build Project, starting ASAP subject to vetting.

    Expected shift pattern will be 10/4 (Tuesday to Thursday) 10-hour shifts, 6-hours every second Thursday.

    About the Role

    As a Collection and Delivery Driver, you will be the face of Motofix, ensuring a seamless and professional service for our customers. You will be responsible for the safe collection and return of customer vehicles, coordinating closely with our customer service team to manage daily schedules efficiently. Your role is vital in delivering an outstanding customer experience, handling vehicles with care, and ensuring timely deliveries.

    Additionally, you will support vehicle logistics, assist with on-site parking management, and operate a transportation vehicle when required (training provided if needed).

  • Linehaul Driver

    Salary: £8,307

    Key Role Responsibilities

    We don’t micromanage our drivers. We trust them to get the job done and plan their own routes. This job involves trunking to regional hubs on the night shift. So, if you like the independence of being out on the open road for long stretches – but also want to be home again at the end of every 9-hour shift, this is the job for you.

    You’ll make sure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks get to and from customers bang on time. At some sites, the goods will be loaded or unloaded for you – at others, you’ll need to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks will sometimes be part of your day.

    You’ll be responsible for inspecting your vehicle and trailer every day and complete a Defect Report if necessary.

  • Trainee Train Driver

    SALARY: £28,020 per annum


    What you’ll be doing

    • Train Operation: Responsible for the professional operation of trains, ensuring the train adheres to schedule whilst maintaining safe operations.
    • Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to safety protocols, including signalling systems, speed limits, and track conditions, to ensure the safety of passengers, crew, and the public.
    • Emergency Response: In the event of an emergency or unexpected situation, respond quickly and appropriately, following established procedures and protocols.
    • Continuous Training & Assessments: Undergo regular training and competency assessments to stay updated on safety procedures, regulations, and any changes in operating practices. You will be expected to maintain your own appropriate professional knowledge and keep informed of industry developments.
    • Train Inspections: Conduct safety inspections of trains prior to driving and reporting any defects to maintenance staff. Securing the train on completion of your journey and promptly reporting any faults which have arisen during service.
    • Record-keeping: Ensure accurate documentation of activities, including departure and arrival times, any incidents or delays, and other relevant information.
    • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with control centres, signal operators, and other relevant personnel to ensure smooth train operations.
    • Adaptability: Adapt to changes in routes, weather conditions, or unexpected circumstances while maintaining operational efficiency.
    • Preparation for Duty: Due to the demanding nature of the role of a train driver, you will be expected to manage your lifestyle appropriately, ensuring adequate rest before shifts. This will at times impact your personal life and require you to make social sacrifices. We also enforce a zero-tolerance policy regarding recreational drugs and alcohol.

    About you

    The role of a Train Driver is safety critical and is subject to Rail Safety Standards Board (RSSB) regulations. You MUST meet the following criteria for this position, or your application will be automatically rejected:

    • Currently live within a 45-minute car journey from the station you work from.
    • Be at least 20 years of age at the time of application.
    • Pass the TDLCR Train Driver medical assessment, including drugs and alcohol screening.
    • Not have defective colour vision.
    • Obtain a pass to an enhanced level on the Train Driver Psychometric Assessments, which will be taken as part of the recruitment process. If you pass the test, it is valid for 5 years. Please note you have only three attempts to complete the psychometrics – if you fail on your third attempt you are unable to re-take them and cannot qualify for a train driver position.
    • Commit to working early, late and weekend shifts – without relying on public transport (for example: 03:00 – 10:30, 15:30 – 12:30, 21:00 – 06:00).

    • The role of a train driver is not just a job, but a career which takes dedication and extensive training to become competent. If successful you will join our trainee driver course, which is delivered in house as part of a 2-year apprenticeship programme.
    • The training program begins with a 5-month intensive classroom-based learning phase, focused on teaching the theoretical knowledge and safety-critical information necessary to become a fully qualified driver. During this period, you are not permitted to take any annual leave. After completing the classroom training, you will be paired with a Driver Mentor and begin on-the-job training, shadowing them through their shift pattern for at least 230 driving hours. Your competence will be continuously evaluated throughout the process to ensure you meet the required standards to qualify as a driver. The full program lasts approximately 12 months and concludes with a final assessment, which may take up to two weeks to complete.
    • Our training centres are in Leeds and Manchester, so you may be required to travel to attend. However, hotels are provided to those living over 1.5 hours away.
    • The trainee train driver course is delivered as part of an apprenticeship.
    • As a train driver it is important to note that you can be required to work bank holidays, and you will be allocated set amount of leave.
